Seniors Tell Their Stories

AHA Interplay will be working with Seniors homes, assisted living communities and seniors still living at home, to meet and interview them about their lives. We will be partnering with accomplished photo/video team Hollenderx2 to create both portraits and audio/video footage and collaborating with The Queens Memory Project and Urban Archive to document this important part of history.

This project aims:

-To acknowledge the importance of each seniors life and create connections with the elderly in Queens.
-To gather the stories from these NY'ers and archive valuable information that will otherwise be lost forever.

-Work with Urban Archive and Queens Memory project to properly archive these stories in addition to creating instagram live series with a portrait and audio of each individual that wishes to be interviewed.

-To have an exhibition showcasing these portraits and audio with a panel on the topic of "Aging in NY" Also each senior will be asked to contribute an object either created in response to the project or object of importance that they already own which can be displayed with their portrait. Medium could include Poem, collage, photo from their past etc.

-Ultimately to develop and integrate art activities into the Senior Homes and create intergenerational workshops according to the needs Seniors voice through these interviews.
